Tuberoses are one of the most incredible, fragrant perennials we grow on the farm. Their stunning long spikes and creamy white flowers make a beautiful addition to our bouquets. The perfume is a bit of a mix between gardenia and jasmine and will fill a whole room with its soft scent.

The stems often reach over 80cm and are best picked when one or two of the bottom flowers are opening. As a clump forming perennial, the bulbs will multiply each year, which means you can dig and divide to easily make more plants.

In our southern Victorian climate, we plant our tuberoses in our Polytunnels to ensure they get enough heat to induce flowering. They love hot weather, so will thrive in well-draining soil in a sheltered, full sun area.

They take a season or two to get established and like to grow in families, so we always make sure to leave a few bulbs on each clump after their first season.

If you live in a region that is prone to frost, we recommend digging and storing somewhere above 15c degrees each year.
